TJ Design is a web design studio on the Kāpiti Coast, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through tjdesign.co.nz, why, and what you can do about it. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- What you send us. When you use the enquiry form or email us: your name, email address, and anything else you choose to give, such as a phone number, your current website, budget and a description of your project.
- How you found us. If you arrived from an ad or a tagged link, we note the campaign details in that link (for example "facebook / free-review"), the first page you landed on, and the site that referred you. These are attached to your enquiry so we know which ads are worth running.
- How the site is used. We use the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics, which use cookies and similar technology to record pages viewed, the device and browser used, approximate location, and whether an enquiry was sent. This is used to measure our advertising and improve the site. When you send an enquiry, the Meta Pixel also sends Meta a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address, phone number and first name you entered, so Meta can tell whether the enquiry came from one of our ads. Meta can't read the original details from the hashed copy.
Why we collect it
To reply to your enquiry, quote and deliver your project, and work out which of our marketing actually brings people to us. We don't sell your information, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.
Who else handles it
A few services process information on our behalf. Some of them store it outside New Zealand, including in the United States:
- FormSubmit delivers enquiry form messages to our inbox.
- Our email provider stores the enquiries and emails we receive.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives site-usage and conversion data, including hashed contact details from enquiries, through the Meta Pixel to measure and show our ads. See Meta's privacy policy.
- Google receives site-usage data through Google Analytics. See Google's privacy policy.
We only use providers we believe protect information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act.
Your choices
- You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
- You can control how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Facebook ad preferences.
- You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't go ahead are deleted within two years. Client project records are kept for as long as we work together, plus seven years for tax and accounting.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@tjdesign.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
