A commercial litigation practice, and a short list of people who run it.

Greenway acts for New Zealand businesses in disputes that cannot be allowed to go badly — contract, construction, employment, regulatory. Six practitioners, one office, no departments to be handed between. The partner you meet is the partner who runs your file.

I
Practice

Six areas, and what each one actually means.

Select an area to narrow the whole register — the matters, the people and the notes below all follow it.

II
Matters

What we have run.

A firm should be judged on its record rather than on what it says about itself. Client names are withheld where the engagement requires it.

III
People

Six practitioners.

Open a name for their practice, their admission and how to reach them directly. There is no switchboard between you and them.

IV
Notes

What we have written.

Short notes on decisions and changes that affect New Zealand businesses. Written by the practitioner who ran the point.

V
Engagement

How to instruct us, and what it costs.

Most firms leave this off their website, which is odd, because it is the first thing a client wants to know. So it is on ours.

  1. Call or write Tell us in a paragraph what has happened and what you want to achieve. If it is not something we do, we will say so and point you at someone who does.
    Same day
  2. First conference — no charge Half an hour with the partner who would run the file, in our office or on a call. You leave with a view on the merits and a range for what it will cost, whether or not you instruct us.
    30 minutes
  3. Terms of engagement A letter setting out the scope, who does the work, their hourly rates and a written estimate. Nothing begins, and nothing is charged, until you have signed it.
    Before we start
  4. An invoice you can read Itemised by date and by person, with a note on where the matter stands. If an estimate is going to be exceeded you hear it from us first, not from the bill.
    Monthly
